what is a soul mate?

“people think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants.
but a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that’s holding you back,
the person who brings you to your own attention so that you can change your life.
a true soul mate is probably the most important person you’ll ever meet,
because they tear down your walls and smack you awake.
but to live with a soul mate forever? nah. too painful.
soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then they leave.”

I wonder if this is a good start.

I read that passage and there was so much truth to it. I am not quite sure whether or not I can agree with it as of yet, but it is for certain a great argument to make. Out of my deep desire to get to know “all of me”, I wonder if I fear the demise of the one person that introduced me to the other side of me that I didn’t know.

I wonder if I have I have found my soul mate or has he found me?

Given the definition above, is my soul mate a he or a she?

I don’t know. If nothing else, this quote gets you thinking…hard. Using this definition, I can definitely apply this to my first love, who I do believe I had a sacred contract with. It was such a beautiful relationship in so many ways, but also incredibly painful. Overall, it was a necessary experience that served as the mirror I needed to grow at that time.
