New sustainable living

Wales Woodland homes
Simon Dale’s woodland home in Wales.

What’s really good?  Natural building, Earthships and ecovillages!  Turns out that they’re all over the place, which is really cool.  A couple in Wales built the atypically beautiful home you see above for about $6,000.  To see more pictures, go here. Won’t last forever, but houses aren’t supposed to.

Earthship in Phoenix
This is an Earthship in Phoenix.  BEAUTIFUL!

Earthships are houses made of earth-filled tires and are meant to be self-sustainable providing their own electricity, water collection, and heating.  They’re built into the ground to maintain the temperature in the house, which only varies about 3-4 degrees throughout the year.  I find them to be extremely cool.

What exactly are Earthships?

What are ecovillages?
